Kiss me.
I imagine that the day before, they had a massive disagreement that ended up in Hux leaving a seething Kylo alone in the Con Room. They didn’t hold back their punches in that argument; they pressed where it hurts and hurled barbed insults in between valid points for their stance.
Kylo was set to go on a mission and when he dressed for the first time in weeks in his own quarters, he intended to leave without a word to Hux. He trusts the officers in the hangar to inform their general on his departure. Besides, he doubts that Hux would want to see him after yesterday and he himself have no desire to see Hux either. Maybe.
He didn’t plan on Hux waiting for him in the empty hallway to his quarters, arms crossed and face stoic. Kylo could tell that the general was still very angry. The cold anger was like ice that ate Kylo’s mind like frostbites when he skimmed the red-head’s thoughts. It was a wonder that Hux even allowed him that much.
Kylo gripped his helmet a little harder, pressing it to his side and wished that he had put it on before he left. He slid his eyes away from Hux and forced his feet to move, back straight and eyes as blank as he could make them.
The hand that gripped his upper arm was unexpected. The familiar clean, crisp scent that filled his sense was a shock to his forced neutrality. The anger in the green eyes that peered up at him was, thankfully, something he knew would be there. But the slight pull at the corner of Hux’s mouth, his tell when he’s worried, was something that Kylo thought he wouldn’t see for a long while.
Or ever again.
But it was there, all the same.
“Kiss me.”
The words were curt and sharp. They broke no arguments and Kylo couldn’t help obliging anymore than he could change a planet’s orbit.
There was a promise that they will continue their argument another time when Kylo returns. The anger was still electric and their stubbornness still chafe at each other. But Kylo understood the act nonetheless : I want to kill you right now but if things go tits up, then that will not be the thing you remember me by.
(Things didnt go tits up and Kylo did come back, satisfied and triumphant a month later. Hux was still cold and his eyes were still distant, but his lips were sweet and the gloved hand on Kylo’s face was gentle.)
