Justice League is so great. This episode literally starts with Wonder Woman and Batman going to the Fortress of Solitude to give Superman birthday presents and literally:
WW: You didn’t get him a gift card, did you? BM: No. … Cash.
ilu DCAU
btw this is not a happy episode, Clark just said goodbye to his son that didn’t really exist (the day you were born was the happiest day of my life KILL ME) and the planet exploded and now Batman is imagining a world where his parents didn’t die and I’m going to CRY
This one ruins me every time
Having this stumble across my dash is like being punched in the heart.
I first saw this episode when I was around 8 or 9 years old and it fucking wrecked me.
Justice League–along with a few episodes of Trigun I remember seeing around the same age on Adult Swim–were some of the first shows I watched where I really started empathizing with characters and understanding the gravity of situations like this.
This show was probably the best introduction to DC heroes anyone could ask for. It usually does a better job than the damn comics.
I think Moore’s also gone on record saying this is one of only two interpretations of his work that he likes.
And it’s also the source of my rant about letting Clark have a kid and KEEP IT!
*cries in the corner*
I agree! I didn’t get into comics until I was seventeen, but I already knew tons about DC characters/universe and how it functioned thanks to JL/JLU.
It’s great, great way to get introduced into the fandom if you don’t have access to the comics (or are interested in the characters but aren’t much into comics as a medium).
